Finding housing in Germany as a foreigner can be challenging. That is why we have compiled this list of website to help you find your dream home in any city in Germany. Renting a house in Hamburg or renting an apartment in Berlin can however still be quite hard, especially if you are not in the country already. That is why we have added some furnished apartment and temporary housing links for you as well.

German Real Estate Websites

Immobilienscout24.de is probaly the biggest real estate website in Germany. You can find aprtments, houses or co-living communities in every town or city in Germany on this website. It is free and you can also set up alerts to get notified as soon as a new listing comes up.

Immowelt.de is pretty similar to Immobilienscout24 and you have the same features on this site. You may not find as many listings here, but that doesn’t mean it’s not a good site. Some listings are also made exclusive for users of Immowelt, so it’s worth being registered here as well.

Immonet.de is yet another clone of Immobilienscout24 and comes with the same features. Still worth a try and registering an account here as well can’t hurt.

eBay-kleinanzeigen.de is the German version of craigslist. Therefore, you find all kinds of classified ads here, but they also have a section for renting a place to live. The postings are mostly in German, but you might get lucky and find offers here that are not available anywhere else.

Real Estate Agencies

Engel & Völkers is a premium real estate agency in Germany, and they usually have the nicer properties listed. However, if you are not on a tight budget, or just want to get inspired, this is a great place to start looking.

Remax.de is a real estate agency with offices all over Germany. They mostly offer properties to buy, but they also occasionally have rental properties. You may want to check out their website and see if they have any housing in Germany listed as rental housing for the city you want to move to.

Temporary Housing

Homecompany.de offers thousands of furnished apartments to rent. If you are looking for a place to get adjusted to living in Germany, or want to start your search for housing in Germany from withing Germany, you will most likely find a furnished apartment on this website.

AirBnB is quite active in Germany as well, even though some cities are not too happy about it. But it is actually a really good starting point for expats to search for a place to stay. You will find apartments, houses or co-living on AirBnB, even for long-term stays. And to be honest: It’s not a bad idea to move in with someone who knows their way around and can guide you through some cultural differences or show you the German cuisine, is it?
